The National Trust’s Ringstead Bay is just four miles and has an unspoilt beach, surrounded by farmland and dramatic cliffs and the Bay is popular for swimming, windsurfers and kitesurfers. It is possible to walk to Ringstead Bay via footpaths which is about three miles.
The area is well known for its sporting and leisure pursuits which include golf at Dorchester Came Down, Yeovil, Folke and Sherborne golf clubs.
Sailing and water sports all along the Dorset coast, with Marinas at Weymouth and Poole (Weymouth being home to the National Sailing Academy).
There is riding and walking in the surrounding countryside. The Dorset coastline is recognised as a World Heritage site and Weymouth is close by with its Georgian seafront and beautiful beach.

There are good schools in the area both state and private. State schooling for all ages in Dorchester (including the renowned Thomas Hardye School). The county is well served by private schools too, with preparatory schools at Sunninghill school in Dorchester, Sherborne, Sandroyd, Perrott Hill. Senior schools include Sherborne School for boys; Sherborne School for girls, Leweston, Bryanston, Canford, and Milton Abbey.
