Outside
The cottage is approached from the village lane through brick pillars and a wrought-iron pedestrian gate, which leads to the charming shingle and paved garden. Beautiful old stone walls and a mature Yew hedge enclose the garden providing privacy. Established shrubs and a climbing rose add softness and seasonal colour.
The delightful rear garden is equally secluded, enclosed by natural stone walls and paved for easy care. A crenellated side wall with a timber door provides access, along with rear access and a discreet bin store. Raised stone-edged borders planted with mature shrubs and flowers create an inviting setting for outdoor entertaining. A garage and parking space lie further up the lane.
Nutmeg Cottage to the rear has right of access over the rear garden for essential maintenance to their boundary wall. Access would be arranged in advance. Please ask office for further details.
Location
Wessex Cottage is set in the heart of Osmington, this delightful and ever popular village close to the World Heritage Jurassic coastline.
The village itself has a strong sense of community with a vibrant village hall at its centre with a full calendar of activities throughout the year. Within the village are many other beautiful stone and thatched cottages, as well as an ancient church. There is also a farm shop and a public house at Osmington Mills.
There is a bus route into nearby Preston and Weymouth, plus an excellent network of bridleways and footpaths.
The county town of Dorchester is 7 miles distant, and from both Weymouth and Dorchester there are regular train services to London (Waterloo, from 2½ hours).
