A very attractive semi glazed UPVC front door allows us to step directly into the stylish kitchen with its hard wearing and very attractive grey laminate flooring. Quality fitted units form an 'L' shape around the walls, covered by a solid marble work top into which there is set a Belfast sink, complemented by a new induction ceramic hob. Opposite this is a feature wall of exposed raw brick, where a deep recess houses the traditional wood burning Aga stove, bringing its cheery warmth and culinary choices without recourse to electricity - ideal in these times of ever increasing energy costs!!
Moving further into the room there is space for a large dining suite of a table and eight chairs before we pass into the sitting area. The furniture is positioned to take full advantage of the corner positioned log burning stove. Here, the heavy slate finish of the surrounding walls enhances the 'cosy cottage' feeling of the room. The whole space is kept well illuminated by the large window and the fully gazed door leading out onto the first of the many patio areas.
From the sitting room, a corridor with a traditional red quarry tiled floor leads past the staircase to an archway taking us to the main lounge.
Again, making excellent use of exposed stonework, this comfortable and cosy room benefits from a pair of dual aspect windows ensuring good light levels and offering some far reaching views. Pride of place in here surely goes to the massive log burner in the stone hearth, the flames of which provides pictures that you just don't get on the telly... It's enough to make you actively want the snowy weather to move in to give you the excuse to light it. However, if you are more short of time, the home is of course fully centrally heated, but for me, it's not the same!
Moving up the stairs we come to the family bathroom and this is where the home takes on a Jekyl & Hyde character. For somewhere so traditional in feel, a bathroom so big, so tasteful, so well equipped and frankly so beautiful, comes as a surprise; but a very welcome one for all that.
A huge walk in shower lies to our left almost providing the dimensions of a wet room, while beyond this sits the stylish table-top mounted hand basin sitting suitably enough, on what appears to be an antique wash stand. Now I am no Lovejoy, but I was convinced. Beside this is the lavatory and then in the corner, a stand-alone bath where the child in me was captivated by the stand pipe arrangement beside it which feeds the waterfall mixer tap and attached hand-held shower. If there was ever a place to relax and soak away the stresses of the day, it's in here.
Alongside here is the first of the bedrooms, a well proportioned double room benefiting from the additional natural light, courtesy of a pair of dual aspect windows. From either of these it is possible to appreciate the commanding views down over Holywell and the Wirral beyond. The room is a good size without being too daunting; some bedrooms can make me feel I am sleeping in a corner of a warehouse while this comfortably accommodates twin bedside cabinets beside the double bed, a large free standing wardrobe and chest of drawers along with an occasional armchair, and still leaves space to move around easily.
Adjacent to here is the slightly larger second bedroom, again featuring twin aspect windows from which you can continue to admire the extensive views. The exposed stonework of the external walls, along with the sloping ceiling following the roofline, conspire to produce a 'cottage' atmosphere worthy of Hansel and Gretal, which is most appealing. There is more than enough space in here to ensure comfort, the room currently containing the double bed with its twin bedside cabinets, an Ottoman linen chest and two free standing wardrobes with matching formal dressing tables and, it does this without feeling at all overcrowded.
Finally, we have the third bedroom which, as is so often the case owing to limited space is purely a single. If however, you work from home and have the need for an office, it is perfect. Though having seen the eye catching vista through its window, I can only hope you are not easily distracted, or your productivity will doubtless suffer...
Returning downstairs and stepping out onto the first of the patio areas, you could be forgiven for thinking you had jetted off to some Mediterranean boutique hotel. Obvious care, labour and no mean amount of skill, has gone into making a space where relaxation is obligatory, while providing a variety of different sitting and dining areas to indulge it. A chest-high wall lies to our left and contains a staircase of Indian stone slabs, which leads up to the higher levels. Straight ahead of us, we step down to a further relaxation area where there is a substantial wooden store shed.
Climbing the steps to the first level we find an attractive viewpoint with covered seating where you could waste away many a happy hour. Adjacent to this, and set in the lee of the house, there is a sheltered and completely private terrace that's perfect for sunbathing, although it being early February, perhaps not on the occasion I visited.
From here more steps lead up to a wooden summer house which, while something of a work in progress, it has already been fitted at considerable expense with brand new sliding patio doors. It it looks like it would take only a little effort to become a very comfortable haven of peace from which to fully appreciate the stunning vista laid out beneath you. And as if you could not already see far enough, a couple of further steps up, put you on what resembles a stage overlooking the entire scene. It's almost enough to give you illusions of grandeur....
Holywell is a pretty understated town, it's got some fabulous views, walks, shops, restaurants, a railway station, great access routes to the coastline and is close enough to the A55 that you can be in Broughton Shopping Retail Park in under 15 minutes, and much further afield very easily. When you look at what you can buy for your money here, compared to other areas close by....it seems a bit of a no brainer to buy this.

All in all this home is a real one-off. It has the feel of a traditional country cottage but combines this with the convenience associated with somewhere far larger and more modern. A great deal of thought has gone into utilising its layout to give real character and exclusivity and where alterations have been made, they have been made with scant regard for cost. The working brief seems to have been 'If it looks right, it is right, so that's what we'll do'. In spite of its age, the entire home is in the sort of condition many 'new builds' can only dream about, and the imaginative layout of the multi-level gardens give them an appeal all of their own. It is conveniently located for all the day to day facilities you need, and the A55 is moments away for any longer distance commuting you find necessary. So, unless you really want to live on a soulless estate in a home identical to the one next door.... give Berry and George a call today. It'll be the best thing you do all day...unless you're a film star, racing driver etc, in which case, it'll be the 2nd best thing you do!
