The core of the house, probably dating back to the mid-18th century, has flint external walls with red brick detailing around sash windows and exposed internal ceiling beams. Major later additions include the author Rumer Godden’s extension of a single storey west wing added in the mid-20th century, but the house has also been refurbished extensively. Under a clay tiled roof, it has casement windows overlooking the front and a mixture of Georgian sash windows and later bay and casement windows at the rear.
