47 Church Hill, enviously positioned, in the heart of the Ironbridge Gorge.
Ironbridge is a renowned, historic former industrial town nestling in The Severn Gorge, the River Severn cutting its way through the steep, wooded slopes of The Gorge forms one of the most striking and distinctive landscapes in England - worthy of its world heritage site designation.
This remarkable area was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution in the late 18th and early 19th centuries and became world famous in 1779 when the world's first Iron Bridge was cast at nearby Coalbrookdale. Steeped in industrial heritage with local museums including the renowned Blists Hill Victorian Town Open Air Village at nearby Madeley and the world famous China works at Coalport.
Ironbridge is surrounded by lovely Shropshire countryside, dominated by the nearby Wrekin, Shropshire's highest hill. From its summit there are views over much of the county and to the North the contrasting landscape of the Shropshire plain.
You enter the cottage via a stable door which leads into an entrance lobby, which benefits from a useful boot and cloak storage cupboard. Off from the lobby to the left is a guest WC / utility room and to the right is the refitted, modern kitchen. Adjoining the kitchen is the spacious, warm south facing living room which benefits from a wood burning stove and incorporates a characterful vaulted dining area.
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms. The main bedroom is particularly spacious. Both bedrooms, especially the principal benefit from spectacular views across the Gorge. Completing the upstairs is the family bathroom with a walk in shower, two storage cupboards and access to the generous loft from the pull down ladder on the landing.
Step across the road through the gate and into the private garden, a stunning outside space. The terraced garden has been lovingly improved by the current owner to create a real oasis with some wonderful hard landscaping, thoughtful planting, lawned areas and ornamental pond. The generous block paved patio allows you to enjoy the view of the garden as well as the distant views down the gorge. Steps from the patio lead down to a secure wooden shed at the bottom.
Whilst parking is on street outside the cottage. Owners would be eligible to apply to the council for two permits to the Council car parks in Ironbridge.
