The current owners first discovered the property through a friend who was living upstairs, while the elderly owner occupied the ground floor. But the moment they stepped inside, they saw the potential: the generous proportions, original features, and space to create something really special.
What followed was a hands-on, full-scale renovation, from the ground up. Over time, the house was rewired, replumbed (with a new tank system), had almost all windows replaced, and even a new roof installed. Yet, through all the upgrades, they made sure to preserve and restore the home’s original charm: intricate coving in the front bay window, the original porch and front door, and sanded-back floorboards that now add warmth and texture to the living space.
The downstairs flows beautifully from a front sitting room with elegant period detailing and log burner, into a dining room with stunning fireplace and direct access to the garden. The kitchen was completely reimagined — a dividing wall and an old chimney breast were removed to create a spacious open-plan kitchen and breakfast area, now complete with bi-fold doors that invite the garden in.

A particularly personal detail: the bathroom vanity unit was handcrafted by the owners using recycled redwood from the home’s original window frames — a testament to the care and thought poured into every corner.
