Welcome to Halcyon Cottage, a stone built detached cottage, which hunkers down into the heart of the pretty village of West Lulworth.

It is thought to date back to the eighteenth century and is likely to have been used as a stable to house animals overnight. In the eighteenth century there was a coaching inn next door, and according to the locals, King George III stayed here, likely keeping his horses in the adjoining stables!

From Royalty to the Women's Institute, the cottage had been used for a number of years for the women of the village, before becoming a homestead. The opportunity is now yours, to create and be part of the history of Halcyon Cottage.

It is a quintessential Dorset stone cottage packed with modern charm, exposed stone fire surrounds, beams, nooks and crannies. Whether coming back from a beach walk and collapsing in front of a roaring fire or walking up to the thatched Castle Inn on a balmy summer evening, this is a place that quickly feels like home.

The large timber front door opens into a HALLWAY with traditional red tile flooring, a boot bench/storage, and plenty of room to hang coats. Doors lead into the sitting room and stylish ground floor SHOWER ROOM which has a modern shower cubicle, W.C., and wash basin. It is perfect for washing muddy paws after cliff walks or heading for a quick shower after a swim in the Cove.

The SITTING ROOM is an inviting space with an airy, coastal vibe. Light dances across the room on summer mornings and, in winter, the Purbeck stone fireplace and inset wood burner make it the perfect place to curl up and be cosy.

The sunny KITCHEN/DINING ROOM, overlooking the courtyard, has been recently refurbished with attractive fitted base units, solid wood work surfaces and a Belfast sink with Devol™ brass taps. Appliances include an electric oven with inset ceramic hob plus an integrated below-counter fridge, freezer and dishwasher, and space/plumbing for a washing machine. The kitchen door and window, with traditional fittings, were custom designed by a local joinery firm.

This is a lovely room for mealtimes, or for simply cloud watching through the skylight. Open the windows in spring and you can also enjoy the sound of the lambs in the surrounding fields.

From the sitting room a wide staircase rises to the FIRST FLOOR LANDING, from which there are 2 very generous DOUBLE BEDROOMS, one with built-in wardrobe and both overlooking the rear courtyard. The sloping eaves at the edges of the rooms create a pretty cottage feel without compromising the ceiling height, which accommodates the tallest people!
