This home also comes with planning permission for an extension to build up over the existing single storey extension, creating two bedrooms and a shower room. In addition two matching single storey wings will be added either side of the front aspect, creating additional living space on either side of the building - please ask for a copy of the plans if you are interested
If you pride yourself on thinking outside the box and want to live somewhere utterly unique with scope for so many uses that it challenges even your imagination, then this is a 'must see' home!
It started off as a large house that has been reconfigured into two separate dwellings with a total of five bedrooms and three reception rooms, it is the ultimate in versatility. It could easily be converted back but why would you, this home is perfect for someone, just like the people currently living there....and that's what we're after!
Set in a little under three acres of varied and hilly woodland where numerous flat areas would, with suitable permissions, allow for projects limited only by your ambition.
The singular home offers a wealth of possibilities. You could just live in it, revelling in the wildness while sitting by the cheery log burner in the detached 'writers cabin' that's sat in the generous grounds, whilst re-drafting 'The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams' - it's all about choice...and there is choice here in spades.
If you have a young teenager looking to fly the nest but still needs to have an eye kept on them, or you have elderly parents who want independence but you just want to make sure they are ok, then this offers you everything and more, to do so.
From the quietest country road where this home is located, you enter a gravel parking area where there is ample parking spaces. To the left of the building, the ground rises in a series of tiers and on the highest level, sits a detached garage accessed from the adjacent road - so parking should never be an issue.
The gardens continue around the home where to the rear are three separate outbuildings for storage, one being a historic 'Bothy' which would be suitable and I'm sure would welcome a loving renovation.
Carrying on around to the rear of the home we come to the lawns at the side, which is where the writer's cabins sits. This comes with electric and water and makes a perfect retreat for a teenager, a fabulous office or a fantastic man/woman cave come games room! It's all overlooked by further tiers that are set into the tree covered hillside that you own, it's simply magical.
Opening the door of the larger portion of the house, we are in an inner hall where in front of us is a useful utility room. Oh alright, it's more a utility cupboard but it successfully houses the laundry machinery and provides fabulous storage.
Turning left past the stairs we enter a bright and spacious lounge area. It has twin aspect picture windows and a set of huge patio doors that open onto the side facing decking, which in turn overlooks a level of easy to maintain fake lawn, before the tiers to the main garden begin. The floors throughout this section of the home are of a pleasing light grey wood effect, which gives an airy and modern feeling to this character home.
The lounge also contains a dining area but don't worry, there is more than enough space for a large dining table and chairs for this to be workable, before we step down into the well planned modern stylish 'L' shaped kitchen.
This area contains everything you could need in an ergonomically efficient space and its proximity to the dining table means food will never be (unintentionally) cold.
Upstairs we find four bedrooms of varying sizes with only one being on the cusp of a single, and even this currently contains a double bed, though positioning your storage furniture requires a degree of cunning, but check the photos out and you'll see just how it can be done.
The remaining rooms are comfortably proportioned double bedrooms but the one thing they have in common, is a view of the surrounding woodland supporting the fairy tale image of the entire home.
Off the common landing we also find the family bathroom where the walls have been completely clad in UPVC plates, meaning you have no problematic grouting to maintain and the room will remain appearing freshly decorated for years to come. In here is a suite of unitary hand basin with cupboards beneath, a lavatory and a 'P' shaped bath with a curved glass protective screen, to help prevent overspill from the shower above.
OK, so now we head to the other side of the house, leaving via the front door and moving around towards the rear of the building. We walk through an arched gateway and across a wide patio area to a door that leads into the other section of this very handy home.
** there is a blocked off doorway which can easily be re-opened, if you want faster access into this section of the home?
Entering the hallway, we pass another example of a utility cupboard, this also housing the washing machine and condenser drier, keeping the more noisier useful equipment out the way.
Beyond here is the bathroom and it features a replication of the hand basin from the previous bathroom, a lavatory and traditional bath above which is a twin headed rain shower which draws its hot water directly from the home LPG powered central heating system, mains gas not being an option in the area.
Moving from here we come to the kitchen, where fitted units fill at least some of all four of the walls and provide plentiful storage and work-top space. This kitchen is capable of housing all the necessary technology to make the world go round.
From the kitchen an archway leads through to an inner hall where we find space for a tall fridge-freezer and a capacious store for all those things that 'will come in useful one day' but meanwhile are often just in the way, before we enter the front facing lounge.
The first thing to strike you on entering here is the stunning solid hard wood floor, giving a real sense of warmth and character, while remaining as practical and hard wearing as a floor can be. This is a good sized room made to feel even bigger by the box style bay window overlooking the front and making sure the place is never gloomy. Pride of place in here surely goes to the huge open fireplace with its bricked inner walls and massive oak beam style mantle, beneath which sits what is best described as a 'weapons grade log burner'.
If you harboured any doubts that you were in the depths of the countryside this is where they dissolve, in a room crying out for bitter evenings where the snow drifting against the windows can hold no horrors for you, as you sit snug with your book. I can almost hear the Disney script writers sharpening their pencils...
Off here and overlooking the side gardens is the bedroom, where the wood flooring continues into a luxuriously large room with a further box type bay, this one fitted with patio doors allowing access to the outside sitting area with its BBQ and commanding views over the gardens. There is more than enough space in here for some heavy duty wardrobes along with various chests of drawers and an office desk, giving an extra layer of versatility to a very attractive room.
The grounds that come with this home offer many uses, some of the two and a half plus acres are very flat, some hilly and wooded but all offer far reaching views that only a lucky few people can enjoy from the comfort of their own homes. With the relevant planning you could think about adding PODs to use as AirBnB's to generate a nice income, but you'd need to talk to the local planning first to see how possible this could be.
Solar panels are also installed in this home to take advantage of cheaper electric and money back tariffs.

All in all this is a home so unlike any other, it is difficult to describe not least for the amount of possibilities for change or further development that it offers. Huge amounts of space allows you to almost live in your own kingdom and in whatever fashion you choose and in a house so versatile it is hard to imagine a set of circumstances that it couldn't accommodate. And that is now: with your own ideas brought into play it could become a place of dreams. These were my thoughts as I stood on the patio looking down on a large grassed area where the writer's cabin takes centre stage, and where the smoke from its own log burner rose into the trees adding to the fairytale nature of the whole place. For that is what it is; a fairytale, but one where you get to write the ending. Develop the grounds? Re-convert the two individual homes into one large one? Or just enjoy it for what it currently is? The choices are many and varied - and they could be yours.....but this is an affordable home if Mum and Dad also want to come and live with you.
