DESCRIPTION
Shieling Cottage is a pretty Grade II listed property, with a very large garden, within walking distance of Petworth town centre. The cottage is believed to date from 17th Century and forms part of a building that was known as the Wheatsheaf Inn. It has attractive external elevations of timber framing with painted brick infill, under a clay tiled roof. The accommodation, which would benefit from some updating, includes good ceiling heights and many period features including exposed beams and an open fireplace. The front door opens into an entrance hall and straight ahead is a kitchen/breakfast room with a nice outlook at the rear. Also off the hall is a good size sitting room also with a nice outlook, with cloakroom to one side. A staircase leads to a landing with 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. There is access from the landing to a large loft area.
Outside, there is a side gate and path, over which the adjoining property has access. This leads to a path that eventually leads to a very large, but overgrown, garden and has access to the rear, in all extending to about 0.18 of an acre. We believe there may be the opportunity to rent a parking space from The Leconfield Estate.
