Description - Lyndale is a beautiful detached cottage dating back to around 1600, which was then added to in the 1700's. It looks very different today to how it would have done then as the sympathetic renovation which has taken place has maintained the original period charm, but added modern fixtures and fittings throughout. The downstairs is entered into an inner porch with space for coats and shoes, then into the kitchen/dining room with beams on display and large feature fire place and woodburning stove. The sitting room has the same features as the kitchen, lots of exposed timber and stone with a feature fire and wood burner. To the rear of the property you will find the practical things, the boot room/utility with downstairs WC. On the first floor there are three bedrooms, all of which are doubles and the main bathroom with two separate attic bedrooms accessed from either end of the landing. Both bedrooms have an en-suite shower room with the main bedroom being larger and having the larger of the two shower rooms. To the rear of the property and accessed from either the landing via a door or steps from the driveway is an elevated garden which enjoys peace and quiet as well as valley view. There is a stone built garage to the side of the property with light and power with parking in front as well.
Location - Lyndale is located in the small hamlet of Downend in the Cotswold hills between the village of Horsley and the thriving market town of Nailsworth, just south of Stroud. Quiet and peaceful and accessed by sunken country lanes, Downend sees very little passing traffic so it is perfectly feasible to walk into Horsley, with its well stocked community shop, popular pub and excellent primary school. It's no surprise there are lovely views from Lyndale, especially from the back garden, which overlooks the valley. Within two hours of London by car or circa 90 minutes by train from nearby Stroud Station. Stroud also has several major supermarkets, including Waitrose, as well as an award winning Saturday Farmers' Market. Also nearby is Nailsworth, a lovely little town full of independent traders and with the bonus of free car parking. There are lovely walks in the nearby vicinity, local livery stables, an excellent choice of local restaurants and several nearby challenging golf courses. One of the key draws to the area is the excellent choice of schools in both the private and state sector, with several highly regarded grammar schools in nearby Stroud.
Directions - From nearby Nailsworth take the the A46 signposted Bath, then take the second right shortly after passing Nailsworth Town Hall, to Horsley. Continue up the hill into the village and just prior to the pub, turn right to Downend. Follow the lane into Downend and as you reach the bottom, bear round to the right where Lyndale will be found after a short distance on the left.
