Description
Old Moor House is situated within the Conservation Area of The Moor at Hawkhurst with its historic church and quintessential village green.
Formerly the village post office and shop for many years, this delightful Grade II listed property, understood to date from circa 1800 with later 19th century additions, has been transformed by the current owners into a lovely family home, offering very well proportioned accommodation in excess of 3,900 sq ft, together with an enclosed part walled garden to the rear and ample off road parking to the front.
The internal accommodation retains many period features and includes an excellent open plan reception/kitchen/dining/family room with direct garden access via bi fold doors. Incorporated in this excellent family space with engineered oak flooring and under floor heating, is a contemporary kitchen area with fitted cupboards, an Everhot range cooker, integral microwave, dishwasher and freezer; the formal dining area and a dedicated family space. Steps lead down to a gym and continue through to an office with a door to the garden and a separate access.
Located in the original part of the house is a sitting room and study, both attractive southerly facing rooms with multi paned sash windows and, the former featuring a wood burning stove. Completing the ground floor accommodation is a versatile games room, a utility room with laundry shoot and space for white goods and a cloakroom.
On the first floor the principal south-facing bedroom benefits from a dressing room with hanging and shelving and an en suite shower room with access through to a Juliet bathroom. Three further bedrooms are served by a shower room and the en suite (Juliet) bathroom to bedroom two. Bedroom five and a further bathroom is accessed by a separate wooden staircase.
Old Moor House is approached via a gravel sweep where there is ample parking and turning. The enclosed part walled garden is accessed via one side of the house, where there is a decked terrace and lower terrace featuring seating arranged around a firepit, an area of astroturf, an old well with glazed cover and a garden shed.
