1) _Wall between dining and kitchen: The original plan was to install storage—like a larder—or to knock through completely and install a steel beam. The planning officer wanted to reduce the extension by 80cms. The residential design guide for Gloucester City Council specifies 1 meter step back, but the officer at the time was prepared to move to 80cms. Speaking about the loft: The yellow shaded box shows roughly where the attic sits and it is boarded and insulated. It is believe one of the previous owners converted it. It does not require planning permission to become a new bedroom/office but requires building control. This will need to be discussed before conversion with the appropriate company (local authority or private). It is useful to discuss with a professional beforehand so that builders don’t provide you with false information. For example, you would need a specific sized staircase for safety reasons.
