There is no denying that Mold's star is in the ascendance as what until a scant few years ago a run-down little market town with nothing much to offer has, with the arrival of numerous 'destination' restaurants (no, not Wetherpoons) and the sort of bars that makes a place feel special, become an entirely different animal. For the first time in living memory tourists are not unknown in the town and needless to say, this has brought opportunities to the local population, because these are not merely day trippers but need somewhere to sleep and to base themselves as they explore the area. AirBnb is a relatively new concept but its simplicity, affordability and ease of use have produced a meteoric growth in its popularity, so is now the time for you to cash in on the Gold Rush? It just might be.
Tucked away just off King Street and thus moments' walk from the town centre we come upon this charming home, the potential of which I suspect has yet to be fully realised. No, it is not perfect and yes, certain things need addressing in order to maintain your 5 star rating but in the grand scheme of things these are small matters. To the front of the home is a small garden laid largely to gravel and featuring a pair of bushy trees that provide privacy from prying eyes as they pass along the main road and which is separated from the home by a block pathway running past the box style bay window. Beside the home is ample parking for a car or, should this prove insufficient for your needs the narrow road on which the home sits runs through to a massive free parking area serving the houses to the rear.
Opening the front door we find a wide hallway with practical and attractive laminate flooring and where the staircase rises before us while to our right is the door into the lounge. In its future role as temporary accommodation it is unlikely that this room will see any serious long term use, which is a shame as it welcomes you in with a warmth you could really get accustomed to. The warmth of the welcome is more than illusory as well, reinforced by the log burning stove set into the chimney breast and making it feel so much more than simply somewhere to rest your head for a few hours. Should the preparation involved in setting up the log burner prove too much trouble, the massive radiator fed from the combi powered central heating system ensures that apart from its aesthetic value, it's not really needed. Which is a good thing as closer examination shows it to be an electric powered fake.... Never mind, you'll not have to clean it out before leaving and it does look the part.
Leaving the lounge and moving down the hall we pass the ubiquitous 'cupboard-under-the-stairs', usually the repository of all the 'stuff' that homes gather and need to be hidden away somewhere. However in this case the transient nature of the occupants means that the home is unlikely to need a place for old paint tins, Dad's fishing gear and wellies that have not seen the light of day for generations, freeing it up for altogether better uses. Opening the door reveals the secret downstairs cloakroom. The slope of the stairs compromises the headroom of any particularly tall users of the loo but for most none Amazons this is never a problem. One feature that anyone would be grateful for is the automatically activated extractor fan, as most AirBnb stays in my experience involve spicy food and ill-advised amounts of alcohol. But maybe that's just me.
Opposite here lies the dining room which is big enough to fulfil a dual role. Easily containing a full sized dining table and a comfortable looking armchair and 2/3 seater settee the room also benefits from a large set of patio doors opening onto the rear garden - OK so there's no actual grass but there could be... but as it is it provides a roomy outside space to enjoy a quick BBQ at the solid wood patio table.
Adjacent to here we pass through the utility area with its practical ceramic floor and masses of storage space before passing into the kitchen.
Although well equipped and laid out this room, situated in a lean-to attached to the rear outrigger of the home could benefit from a little remedial work. The ceiling, clad in white painted tongue and groove planking is showing signs of mould, suggesting either condensation or worse, a problem with the roof. Having said that, we are in a lean-to and in a worst case scenario, even a full replacement roof would not be the end of the world and after all, as someone pointed out, we are in Mold. Sorry.
Moving upstairs straight ahead is the smallest of the bedrooms. A bright, airy space with all the room you need in a single room, and more.
Moving towards the front of the home we find, overlooking the front garden, the family bathroom. This is the personification of efficiency doing exactly what it says on the tin. It is a room. With a bath, and a pedestal hand basin and a lavatory. To the side of the bath is a glass side screen, necessary because the bath has a shower above it. For simplicity and ease of use this takes its water from a set of mixer taps and while some may sneer, it is a perfectly workable arrangement as anyone who has lived with one will attest.
Adjacent to here and also overlooking the front is the first of the double rooms. This, in keeping with the expected purpose to which the home will be put, is fitted with twin single beds but could just as convincingly house a double with all the free standing furniture you fancy.
Finally, at the rear is the largest of the bedrooms, an excellently proportioned double room given a decidedly 'cottage' atmosphere by the way the ceiling slopes down at the eaves. The quality laminate floor is set against the period fireplace, no longer currently in use but which could, I have little doubt be reinstated for the real Florence Nightingale vibe. Good grief, did I just write 'vibe'? Nurse! It's happening again....

All in all this could be just the opportunity you have been waiting for. Finding a suitable property for use for AirBnb is one thing but finding one in such a burgeoning environment as this where each month, another new venue opens its doors is another matter altogether. This, combined with the area's well known and established attractions, the outstanding beauty of the surrounding countryside (that's official, not an estate agent's hyperbole) it is that special. It is well equipped and thought out, needing little in the way of work to turn it into a real profit-factory, so what is stopping you?
