Penyffordd is that rarity in this day and age; a real village that feels and more importantly, behaves like one. Don't be seduced by some 'Artists Impression' in a glossy brochure of what a village should look like, this is the real deal. The sort of place that people aspire to and, having achieved their goal they rarely want to leave meaning that competition for houses is always fierce. As a bonus it has all the facilities you could need and, from the Christmas pantomime to the annual village carnival it truly does have soul and for this reason, its popularity comes as no surprise. So if a spacious four/five bedroom dormer bungalow features anywhere on your wish list, form an orderly queue over here.
Situated on a corner plot in one of the village's more established parts the home features golden gravel to all the outside areas which, while looking very attractive also removes much of the labour necessary to keep it that way. A concrete drive provides parking and gives access to the side positioned 'front' door which in turn, opens into the inner hall with its quality wood wood effect vinyl.
Immediately opposite the front door is the first of the bedrooms which initially looks small but opens into a 13 foot room converted from the garage so a perfectly usable double room. But then you realise that there are four more, so unless you suffer from boomerang offspring who just keep returning, it is unlikely to become an issue. Or, should your children have finally flown the nest you have the office/library/music room you always promised yourself.
Moving further down the hall we next come to the second bedroom which is altogether larger, offering space for a compact double or a truly luxurious single room.
Opposite here lies the principal bedroom, a genuinely spacious double benefitting from one complete wall of fitted wardrobes catering for the needs of the most dedicated fashionistas. Or a market trader needing somewhere for his stock....
Crossing the hall once more we come to the fully tiled family bathroom, with an interesting feature in the raised step allowing a graceful entry to the 'P' shaped bath where we also find an over-bath shower behind the protective glass screen. The remainder of the room unsurprisingly features a pedestal hand basin and lavatory.
Adjacent to the bathroom is the kitchen/dining room. This is a phrase that strikes fear into my heart as these are so often simply too small to adequately fulfil this dual role. Here however, my fears are redundant as the room easily accommodates a sensibly sized dining table opposite a full wall of fitted units before we pass into the far section with its 'L' shaped layout of further units containing all the equipment that modern living demands. The room is kept pleasingly bright courtesy of twin aspect windows which mean whatever you are doing, you are never working in your own shadow. The view from one of these windows reveals a minimalist rear courtyard providing a pleasant and private sun trap. (Ha! What sun?)
Then stepping through the back door we find a patio area of what looks to be Indian stone and a small lawn separated by a low wall so don't sell off the mower just yet, with the whole area made private by wooden fencing.
Returning to the hall via the kitchen and moving towards the front of the home we come to the spacious and cheerful lounge which once again features twin aspect windows adding to the airy feel. This is where the home springs its big surprise in the shape of an exposed staircase along one wall revealing that this is not merely a bungalow but has an accessible upstairs. And what an upstairs it is.
At the top of the stairs we turn right into the first of the upper bedrooms where, taking full advantage of the shape of the roofline the room is given an almost Hansel & Gretel cottage atmosphere as the ceiling comes down towards the eaves. A picture window set into the gable end of the home is supplemented by Velux roof lights which as always, provide heavenly views. (Sorry...)
Adjacent to here at the head of the stairs is the second bathroom or if we are being pedantic about it, shower room though it offers a level of equipment that by now should come as no surprise in this rather lovely home. Fully tiled from floor to ceiling, it features a modern unitary hand basin with storage beneath, lavatory and a glass walk in shower cubicle.
And finally, at the other end of the landing the last bedroom offers a reprise of the previous one meaning that space is never at a premium and in spite of the sloping ceiling full sized furniture can be easily accommodated.

All in all this is a house for all seasons. Offering far larger accommodation than initial impressions would lead you to expect - up to five bedrooms in what appears at first to be a bungalow in a suburban setting is not to be sneezed at. However should your family not require so many it gives you space and space, as we all know is the one thing you cannot fake. If somewhere is too small no amount of clever design will conceal it forever and it will never give you the feeling of luxury you seek. That all this is to be found in so sought after a setting is simply the icing on an already very tasty looking cake but in the current climate I expect competition for this one, so be sure you don't miss out.
