This tranquil three-bedroom detached house is in the perfect coastal location on a quiet private road, First Avenue. It is a short stroll through dunes to Camber Sands, with the cobbled streets and bustling cafes of Rye only a 10-minute drive away. The house was the subject of extensive external and internal renovation, which has employed rendered exteriors, new windows and doors, and a gentle decorative scheme across the house and artist's studio.
The Tour
The primary entrance is at the front of the house, with a private driveway providing off-street parking for multiple vehicles. A secure gated entrance at the side of the home allows access to the secluded rear garden.
The interior combines calming natural stone with soothing shades of white and limestone floors, creating a light aesthetic entirely in keeping with the coastal vernacular. There is a newly fitted Portrait kitchen, new Lusso Stone bathrooms, and new Mandarin Stone flooring and tiling inside and out. Underfloor heating warms from below across the entire ground floor.
A wall of glazing across the living and dining space ensures constant communication with the exquisitely landscaped garden and encourages seamless indoor-outdoor living. Adapting effortlessly to the changing seasons, the house is wonderfully bright and breezy in summer. Doors and windows are thrown open, and the house spills onto the terrace and garden. In winter, the space becomes a welcoming retreat, with a log burner and underfloor heating emanating warmth through the living and dining rooms.
The open-plan kitchen adjoins the main living spaces and is custom-built, with hand-crafted workstations, cabinetry and a Quooker tap.
The three generously proportioned bedrooms are spacious and have ample storage. The upstairs bedrooms have breathtaking views of the dunes. The two bathrooms are immaculately finished with floor-to-ceiling Mandarin Stone tiling and have a freestanding bath, wet rooms, vanities, and brushed gold fixtures and fittings.
Outdoor Space
The expansive south-facing limestone terrace provides exceptional privacy and a golden light from sunrise to sunset. It is a perfect spot for summer lunches or an evening sundowner. The lawned and tendered garden beyond provides several entertaining spaces and houses an outdoor shower, ideal for washing off sand after a dip in the sea.
An artist's studio nestled in the garden has a beautiful natural light, exposed beams and brickwork, and plenty of built-in cabinetry.
