Check This Out If You Think All Two Bedroom Terraces Look The Same! This has to be the best example of what you can do when updating a traditional terrace. It’s superb, with some bold design choices and plenty of neat little touches, inside and out.
It’s amazing to see the transformation that’s taken place - and I should know, having sold 27 Cumberland Street to the current owners in 2016!
Now it’s time for them to move on, they’re leaving behind a fabulous first time buy for a couple or young family to fall head over heels in love with.
Back in 2016 it needed updating…and it would be fair to say they’ve done that in a spectacular fashion.
The ground floor has the traditional two reception room layout but it’s been completely opened up, with the stairs separating the two distinct living and dining spaces yet making it still feel like one larger room.
Both rooms are gorgeous but the dining room is something special. That’s because of the fireplace with exposed brickwork and an old fashioned stove, the full height window looking out to the yard and the stylish yet practical sliding door to the kitchen.
The kitchen is still a galley kitchen and the bathroom is still at the back, but they’re both fantastic examples of what you can do with the space.
The kitchen is fabulous, with bold wall tiles, high gloss fitted units and unusual (but lovely) wooden ceiling tiles with recessed spotlights.
The bathroom is another stylish space, with a shower over the jacuzzi bath.
The advantage of having the bathroom downstairs is always the extra space upstairs - here there are two good size double bedrooms (one currently being used as a dressing room).
The loft room, although accessed by a ladder, provides an additonal space that could be used as a home office or simply for storage.
A yard is a yard, right? Not here - the same care and attention to detail has been used to create a little sun trap oasis where you’ll love to sit outside on the decking, with a handy outbuilding for storage.
Cumberland Street is less than ten minutes walk into town. It’s so handy for work, shopping or socialising. And if you do have a car there’s plenty of on street parking.
Starting a family may not be top of your list right now but Victoria Infant & Nursery School (rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted) is only two streets away.
This could be the best two bedroom terrace in Workington! It will be perfect if you’re looking to make your first step onto the housing market into something truly special.
I suspect this will get an awful lot of interest! If you don’t want to miss out, call to arrange a viewing.
A note on Workington leasehold
Most of Workington Town Centre properties are leasehold, which dates back to when the Curwen family owned most of the land. They are on a peppercorn rent, usually between £1-£3, and were on a 999-year lease. Most will have around 840 and 860 years remaining. They are managed by Cumberland Council and are effectively treat as freehold. You don't need to ask for permission to make any alterations, other than if you needing planning permission. You can always buy the freehold, which is usually under £150 plus some additional legal costs. However, most people don’t as the ground rent is so low, and the remaining number of years will last a few lifetimes. Feel free to get in touch if you’d like more info.
