Description
Harvard Cottage is a landmark building dating from the early 18th century, with an adjoining detached one bedroom annexe and former stables, within the conservation area of Stock village.
The house has many period features typical of its origins, fireplaces, sash windows and exposed timber. At the front of the house are two reception rooms separated by a central staircase and fireplace, both rooms have twin sash windows overlooking Swan Lane. To the rear is the kitchen with adjoining hallway, utility room and conservatory, all anchored around a courtyard.
On the first floor are three bedrooms and a family bathroom.
The annexe
The layout is versatile, providing spacious accommodation with lofty ceiling heights. Extending to approximately 700 sq ft, there are two spacious reception rooms, a kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor, with a bedroom to the first floor.
Outside
A driveway between the house and cottage leads to a courtyard. There are some original outbuildings behind the cottage, now a garage with attached former stable and tack room. Immediately behind the house is a water well. Beyond the courtyard there are part-walled established gardens, lawned and including quince, cooking and eating apple trees.
