Built around a spacious square and legendary duck pond, the commanding limestone buildings include the Charles Cotton Hotel, Hartington Hall, Market Hall and St Giles Church, dotted between a vast selection of gift shops, cafes and pubs. One of the most striking buildings in the village is Bank House, a grade II listed building with volumes of character and history behind it.
